Vincent Street Canning Town Estate Regeneration

Vincent Street is the first phase of an emerging Masterplan for the new 7.2 hectare Canning Town Estate. It looks to deliver a creative scheme focused around affordable housing, yet its ambition to support a community focused neighbourhood has driven the need for a more generous public realm supporting a greater coverage of urban greening, including the integration of existing trees with new street trees and generous planting, including many native species.

Focus has been on creating a safe, well connected public realm for pedestrians and cyclists that is less impacted by vehicles, and in doing so, has created space for a range of important neighbourhood needs, including comfortable green space and gardens, amble seating for rest and social interaction, a loop of play activities for young families to enjoy, and a new square for community focused events.  Connectivity with the wider community is also embraced and once the masterplan has been delivered will provide a network of public realm and green space connecting with local schools, leisure, homes, and public transport.

In addition to the public realm the composition of five buildings, with extensive biodiverse green roofs, define the perimeter of a central podium level which includes a community garden for residents to enjoy. Planning permission was granted in January 2023.
