URBAN planted a garden of bamboo in central London. The garden is approximately 500m², located close to Kings Cross Station, and surrounded by Victorian terraces. The objective of the installation is to create an intensely English urban garden that delights the senses; celebrating one garden form and plant – sweet peas on support canes – and repeating it throughout. The sweet peas are planted in a gradient of purples, blending from white at the house to ‘almost black’ at the back of the garden. The sweet peas’ fragrance permeates the garden and will magnify as the sweet peas reach the top of the bamboo canes.
