The River Thames is London’s physical and spiritual reason for being. This particular location along the river allowed people to establish a home here 1000 years ago, providing access to water and fertile land for growing food. Our rivers and land are now mostly buried beneath urban development, and human processes have hidden the dynamic system of hydrology that sculpted the original landscape.
This model reveals the wonderful river system and topography of London, created with translucent drinking straws, highlighting the ephemeral and often unseen processes of water and land.
